But from what i read, the new 1.5 had a few issues with a certain part, and that's expected since it's the new HDI engine, but the 1.6 is a well driven engine with good reputation. Also the 1.5 uses more Adblue than 1.6 since it follows the newest strict emmision rules.
The good news.if you DO have a 2.5L (B2500) engine, then this engine is a NON interference engine - which means, if the cambelt did snap, your engine would not suffer any internal damage, compared to interference engines. Hope this helps.. "If this has helped you in any way, please rate this solution"
One of my staff had a 308 with 303,000 miles on the 1.6 HDi 110 motor. He'd maintained it very well and it drove pretty good. He eventually gave it to his son who, as young men often do, ragged the living daylights out of it and a few weeks later drove up the arris of another cwr. Make America swole again!
307 sw 1.6 hdi - 126k - smoke and oily turbo. Driving along happily - glanced in rearview mirror - clouds of whiteish smoke. Not misfiring or any other noise, no 'STOP' inicator. NB engine management light had been on for 2 weeks with 'antipollution fault'. Called AA - man checked oil - noticed that it was above the max line.
There will be three engines, eventually. On test we tried the 1.6 HDI 110 diesel and the 1.6 THP 150 turbo petrol, just like my long-termer 207 hatchback. Launch date is 1st March 2007 and a little later we'll see a 120bhp non-turbo 1.6 petrol with 5-speed manual or four speed automatic transmission.

The current engine line-up of 1.6-litre HDi 75 and 1.6-litre HDi 90 (Euro 5) will be available until June 2016. The little Partner is good to drive, maybe not as good as a Transit Connect but it
My 1.6 tdci focus would get 70mpg on the motorway, a 2.0 tdci mondeo would get 50mpg absolute max. 20k annual mileage, assuming for the sake of this scenario that itโs all motorway miles at 70vs50 mpg, then youโd save almost a grand with the 1.6. 1.6 diesel engines are far more economical then 2.0 and often not particularly much slower, if
